ARROW EVOLVES

Building on eight decades of category leadership, Arrow Fastener Company Inc. is introducing a comprehensive rebranding strategy aimed at delivering innovative tools for today’s DIY and professional market.

Founded in 1929 by Morris Abrams, Arrow Fastener quickly became synonymous with its heavy duty steel staple gun, the T50®. Based in the U.S. with Canadian and European operations, the company currently markets a full line of manual and electric staplers, brad nail guns, hot melt glue guns, hammer tackers, rivet tools and related accessories.

Arrow began its strategic evolution in September 2006, when Morris’ son Allan stepped down after 45 years of service, leaving the presidency to his own son. Soon after taking the helm, Joshua Abrams and new senior vice president Sheldon Betsalel, who had led Arrow’s Canadian business for 17 years, began repositioning the company to better face future challenges.

“We see our leadership in the category and see our obligation to the public to create new, innovative ways of fastening while retaining the reliability of Arrow products”, explained Abrams.

FASTENING REVOLUTION

Simultaneous to visually reinforcing the brand, Arrow’s new product development strategy is intended to enhance market leadership and customer loyalty while creating sales opportunities.

The flagship model of the logical brand extension, the CT50™ Professional Cordless Staple Gun, began shipping to retailers nationwide December 2007. Powered by 10.8 volt lithium-ion battery that shoots over 2,000 staples in a single charge, the rugged stapler weighs under four pounds with battery onboard. Significantly lighter than competitive models, the unit furthers reduces user fatigue through a balanced, ergonomic design. To decrease downtime, it holds two full strips of Arrow T50 staples available in six different sizes. A window helps monitor supplies and guides users with a nose-end LED light.

The Arrow R&D team has also been busy re-engineering some of their existing products. The redesigned ET200 Extra Heavy-Duty Electric Nail Gun features an ergonomic non-slip cushioned grip, a non-marring removable bumper, a LED guide light and surface contact safety tip. The 6-foot cord, 14 amps of power and ability to drive four sizes of 18-gauge Arrow bard nails makes this a must have versatile tool. The jam-proof nail delivery system and the angled channel for tight corner jobs makes this nail gun as tough as the jobs it works on.

BUILDING ON SUCCESS

The new generation of Arrow products is backed by the company’s reputation for reliable manufacturing facilities, honored distribution network and responsive customer service. With a pipeline of introductions and packaging innovations on tap, the company is poised to celebrate its 80th anniversary in style.
