Star Light

Moravian star lights became popular in the United States in the 1930s, when they were a common sight on front porches and entryways because they were thought to protect houses from evil spirits. Meyda Tiffany's model is hand-crafted of seedy glass and brass finished in a dark brown patina. The light is available in four sizes (the 18"-diameter fixture shown retails for $325) and adjusts to drop between 20" and 54" from the ceiling. To order, see www.meyda.com, or call (800) 222-4009.
