Introducing MyOldHouseJournal.com
Take a tour of our brand-new online community!
By Old-House Journal
For 35 years, Old-House Journal has been connecting old-house enthusiasts from all walks of life, giving you the chance to learn from each other and share the joys and frustrations that come along with restoring an old house. Now we're making that bond even stronger with our new online community. It's a place where you can connect with and learn from other old-house owners. You can also post photos of your house, write blog posts about your restoration, even upload videos—creating a digital scrapbook that you can look back on for years to come. Browse this quick tour of everything the site has to offer, then head on over and sign up!

The Homepage
On the main page of the site, you'll find the latest activity—if anyone has written a new blog post, posted a new photo, or made a new comment in a discussion forum, it'll show up here.

Your Journal
By clicking on the "My Journal" tab, you'll be taken to your personal page, where only your activity will show up. From here, you can edit your profile information or image, change the look of your page, and get quick access to the pages of people you add as your friends.

Photos
The most recent photos posted on the site will appear in a slide show on the main page, but to see all posted photos, click on the "Photos" tab at the top of the page. There, you can browse through or search the hundreds of photos on the site. Clicking on the photo will take you to a larger version, where you can leave a comment for the person who posted it. The "My Photos" and "My Albums" tabs will take you to the photos you've posted on the site.

Videos
Similar to the "Photos" tab, the "Videos" tab lets you view all videos that have been posted and also post your own—click the "Add a Video" tab in the right-hand corner of the screen to add your own videos directly from your computer, or share videos that you've found on Google or YouTube.

Events
Looking to attend a home tour or antiques fair? The "Events" tab is your go-to source for the latest happenings in the old-house community. You can post events you've organized, or RSVP for events posted by others that you'd like to attend. (Keep track of events you're attending by clicking on the "My Events" tab.) You can even export an event to your computer's calendar so you can receive a reminder when it's coming up.

Blogs
Starting a blog is a great way to keep track of progress on your restoration—and it's fun to read what others have to say, too. Under the "Blogs" tab, you'll see a list of all the blogs that have been posted recently on the site. To add one of your own, simply click the "Add a Blog Post" link in the top right-hand corner of the page and start writing.

Forums
Under the "Forums" tab, you'll find all the same discussion categories you've come to know in this site's Talk section—in a much easier-to-use format. To join a discussion, simply click on the title, read the question, then write your response in the reply box.
Now that you're familiar with the setup of the site, sign up and start exploring!
